2012 Melges 24 World Championship Competitor Update 2: Membership, Certificates & Arrival Dates

12 July 2012

In order to be ready and legal to race in Torbole, the IMCA has three things they need your urgent help with today.

Pay Your Class Membership Fees
Class Rule B.2.1 requires that the owner/boat must be a full member of the class and that non-owner helms must be associate members of the class. If you have not yet paid your 2012 membership please contact your National Class Secretary urgently as you will not be allowed to race without your current membership in place. If you are from a new Melges 24 Nation and need help to become a class member please contact me and I will assist you. Please ensure you pay your membership in advance of arriving in Torbole as it will not be possible for us to process them on site.

Ensure You Have A Current Valid Measurement Certificate For Your Boat
Again to be legal to race you must have a current valid measurement certificate. This must be in the current owner's name and it must show the correct national sail numbers. If your certificate is not current please take action most urgently as these can take a few days to process. The certificates are issued in some countries (like the UK) by the national yachting authority (eg RYA) and in some countries by the National Melges 24 Class Association. Again contact your National Class Secretary if you need help with this or if you are from a new Melges 24 Nation and need assistance please contact me. Certificates issued by a National Class will look like this example. Certificates issued by national yachting authorities may look different but they must contain all the same key information as on this proforma.

Please note that your SAIL NUMBER must match your HULL NUMBER as per Class Rule
A.10.1 Sail numbers shall correspond to the number on the International Class Building Fee Plaque (the blue ISAF plaque on the back of your boat). Boats with sail numbers prior to 350 shall carry the number as issued by Melges Performance Sailboats.

Confirm your Arrival Date To Help The Club Plan Logistics
In order to help plan everyone's arrival as efficiently as possible the club has asked you to confirm your arrival date using this Online Form. Please complete this form urgently to help the club ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible for you.

If anyone has any problems or questions about the above please don't hesitate to contact Fiona Brown, IMCA Administrator & Media Coordinator via phone at +44 7711 718470 by e-mail or Skype: fpbrown.
