NEW MELGES 24
Western Australian restaurateur Heath Townsend (owner of
Wisefood) took delivery of his new Melges 24 "Kaito" just in time
for Airlie beach Race Week 07. Sponsored by Dirty Dog
Sunglasses and SLAM team Kaito took out one of the heats will
minimal effort or pre regatta preparation from nineteen entrants,
proving that he'll be a serious force to be reckoned with next
year. Sixth overall for Kaito and third for Melges Asia
Pacific means we're looking forward to the steadily growing Melges
fleet in Airlie 2008.
Kaito then went on to take out the Heaven Can Wait Dash on lake
Macquarie, late September.
Heath has entered her in the First Asia Pacific Sports Boat
Championships in Hong Kong in November. Melges Asia Pacific
will pack Kaito and see her safely shipping to Hong Kong and back
in time for Skandia Geelong Race Week, after which he will take
her to his home town of Busselton in time for Geographe Bay.
Team Kaito
Aussies Campaign their 2nd Melges 32 US Nationals in
Newport Rhode Island in July.
After Chartering a Melges 32 last year
and bringing home an impressive 4th place, Mr Masters took delivery
of his new Melges 32 at this years US Nationals. The Aussie
crew performed well and mixed it up with some of the best yachtsmen
in the world with seconds separating the first and last place in the
fleet. The exhilarating One Design racing was mind blowing and
really is the ultimate. The high tech features of the Melges
32 makes for superior racing. Henri Lloyd gear kept the crew
focused entirely on their tactics, with a mid fleet result the boat
was then packed up and shipped to Sydney, set for Geelong.
